Does the lightweight oil pressure relief valve need a washer behind it? Specifically on a Jubilee?

I am changing my valve and the old one has no washer between it and the inner casing. I am tempted to fit a copper washer because the old valve was chewing into the softer casing and may not form a seal. Alternatively, I could use some thread sealant.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks,

Dennis

My Electra also had no washer behind the pressure relief valve. I did not use a washer but did use Loctite as a thread sealant. My valve was rusted solid in the open position. Worth checking it out.

David,

Thank you for the information. I was worried about a seized valve and that is why I am changing it. Looks like a washer is not required but I will seal the thread, as you did.
