Could this be your Dream Job?

Ian Loram CollectionSome months ago the new Norton factory purchased over 50 of Ian Loram's magnificent collection of Nortons for display at their new headquarters in Solihull near Birmingham. The bikes, all in top condition, range from the very earliest 'Energette' of 1902 (presently on loan from Ian Loram) to the Rotary models of the 1980's and 90's. (See some collection highlights here.)

Before the sale, Ian, with his friend, and excellent engineer, George Molyneux, spent two full days each week going through the bikes. They looked at every component and ended up sending away magnetos, reboring engines, and replacing stanchions, bearings and chains, etc. Ian  liked to be able to say, ‘I will ride this bike today knowing that, mechanically, she is as good as she can be’. Now, despite being sited in one of the finest workshops in the country, the bikes still need regular maintenance to keep them in tip top running condition. Is this a job you could do?

The club is assisting the factory to find one and perhaps two good all-round engineers with wide experience of motorcycle restoration, to take on the the ongoing maintenance of the collection.. The post will offer part-time employment with terms by negotiation with the factory.

You will understand that the role will be popular and we have already received some expressions of interest. If you would like to be considered, please contact me , in confidence, and supply your CV. The best applications will be considered by Norton for the final selection of the successful candidate.
