Interpol 2 brake seal kits?

Forums

I could do with replacment seal kits for the front and rear brake cylinders on my Interpol 2. Andover does not have them.

Does anyone know the origination of the cylinders so that I can start to look elsewhere? A lot of equipment on these bikes seems to have been Yamaha - did this include the hydraulics?

Spare parts and service availability

Forums

Hi Guys,

I'm normally a Commando man but recently an elderlychap who lives near me asked me to have a look at his sons bike as it was in need of a service and a bit of attention. When I got to his house I was expecting to see a Commando or Dommi sitting there but was astonished to find an extremely good condition Rotary F1. His son has owned it from new and it has only covered 6,000 miles. Now, before you all start flooding me with messages, he doesn't want to sell it !!!

IP 2 /Classic

Forums

Anybody parking an IP 2 or Classic up for any length of time, drain fuel tank down or remove fuel pipe from fuel vacumn tap. It has been known for the tap to go faulty and fill the engine with petrol and damaging the engine.

Ballast resistor and oil

Forums

I recently rode down to Spain on the Commander. the only problem was that the ballast resistor went. I had been told that the bike would run without one. I joined the wires and the bike ran perfectly. does anyone know if there is likely to be any longer term consequence? Also SAE 40 diesel oil is readily available in country garages, it says (in English) that it is a heavy duty detergent oil sutable for trucks etc. it is marked as API CF/CD. Any thoughts on its suitability for our rotaries.

Rotary rev limit

Forums

Can anyone tell me why the maximum rev limit is set so low on the ip2,at 7500 rpm this seems very low for a rotary with so few moving parts,i heard that a rev limiter was fitted does anyone know why this was done, also i have a ip2 that has been stood for a while i read somewhere it is not wise to just start them up after being laid up can anyone help

many thanks Steve.

Casings in black

Forums

Hello, at the INR I noticed a beautifull Commander Special with blackened engine casings, see picture attached. The coating was of great quality. I am not familiar with rotaries. Is it standard? I take it the casings get rather hot. Would anybody know what kind of coating was used? Thanks, Bennie.
