Hi, Can anyone tell me if it's ok to use sidecar yokes on a soloslimline dominator and what the difference is/effect will be? Will it handle as well?
I am asking this question as I have sidecar yokes but no solo ones and am on a buget.
Likewise with long roadholder forks and yes I know they are about 1.5 inches longer.
Thanks Keith

Hi Keith.
The sidecar yokes will decrease trail and make the steering lighter. Reducing trail reduces self centering action on the steering making the bike faster to turn or making the steering "quicker".
At high speed the steering could be so light as to make tank slappers a strong possibilty.
Fitting a very grippy larger than standard tyre might help, but only if the rolling resisatnce is higher than the standard tyre. This is caused by the tyre drag pulling at the wheel and creating a higher castor effect.
I would not consider for one moment using the sidecar yoke on a solo bike just for safety concerns.
Considering the handling and feel of the standard featherbed set-up is near perfect, changing to the trail can only be detrimental IMHO.
If you look in the NOC shop you can get top and bottom yokes for £55. If you are that short of cash, for your own safety, I would stop the project rightnow.
Your life, I'm absolutely sure, is worth much more than 50 quid!
Regards.
