For the past two years one of the most successful Club events has been the Open Day at The Wharf Inn, Welford, Leicestershire.
Attracting a record-breaking 122 Nortons with national publicity for the ‘Norton 100’ event in 2024, for 2025 we decided to adopt a lower-key approach and moved to circulate information only within the Norton community. The event still attracted 66 Nortons, which was much more enjoyable from an organisation point of view and allowed everyone to spend more time with our friends who had travelled on their Norton to Welford. The location is in central England, being just 2 miles north of Junction 1 of A14 and around 7 miles east of Junction 20 of M1 motorway.
There’s a great camaraderie, with many saying this is the nicest gathering of Nortons and enthusiasts. It’s not a rally and there is no competitive element, although we may make informal awards for ‘Interesting’ Nortons. We offer free tea of coffee on arrival on a Norton, there’s plenty of level parking space and the pub has an excellent reputation for first-class food at very reasonable prices [The Wharf Inn was awarded ‘Rural Pub Of The Year in 2023]. This year’s event will take place on Sunday 17th May from around 11am to 4pm, please come along and you will be made very welcome.
