Torqueing Dommi head

Forums

Anyone got any idea how to torque the front and rear nuts on a1962 dommi 600cc cylinder head,it's not as if there is any room to get a torque wrench in!any suggestions would be appreciated

I've always done it by feel. Have a play with your torque wrench and a bolt in the vice and get a feel for how much force you need to apply at whatever the length of spanner is that you will be using.

well use a box spanner with a socket on one end for the front nut they only need about 20 lb as for the nut under the back its a case of spanner only and do it up tight but not over tight as you may break something like your knuckles or the spanner or strip the thread, you should start with the middle and work out and just nip up the nuts or bolts as the case may be yours anna j

Thanks, that's what I thought, but it's odd that they should stipulate a torque setting when there is no way of achieving the said setting!

Thanks again.

I doubt if they listed a torque figure in 1949. Also doubt if the factory used torque wrenches... does anyone know for certain?

Hi Dave, Bought a luggage weighing digital spring balance for about a fiver from Lidl. Hooked this over the end of ring spanner and pulled until got required reading. Simple calculation 305 / (length of spaanner in mm - centre to centre) x fl lbs. Probably not totally accurate, but better than guessing....

Best regards,

Chas
