Forums

I’m looking for a Timing Light for my Commando with electronic ignition and positive earth but can’t seem to find one, any ideas were I can buy one

Won't any battery powered timing light work if connected to the proper battery terminals?

recently bought Draper 52616 Pistol Grip Xenon Ignition Strobe... from amazon. £27.48

Ignore what it says about not suitable for motorcycles or negative earth only.

Works perfectly on my Commando 850 MkIII

Hello, John

not commando. but my bike, is 6 volt positive earth. thorspark ign. i use a separate 12volt battery to power the timing light and place the trigger onto the spark plug lead. when i bought the light it said it would work on 6 volt which it would do, but it was as dull as a candle and no use. so hence the 12 volt battery.

I did say ignore what it says about not suitable for positive earth.
and ALL pickups are direction sensitive. If it does not work , just rotate on the HT lead.
