I think that my 1954 88 engine should be fitted with a timing cover with the external filter/relief valve. However,I also have one of the 'internal' valve types (used 1958-61 according to Mr Haycraft) and this is in better condition. My mistake........I should have mentioned they were all on engines/bikes.
However.....I am sure that, just before Xmas, Mick Hemmings was selling off a stack of SS timing covers that needed a little machining to make them serviceable.

Either of these covers can used on your engine. They both do the same job. The advantage of the external presure valve is access to it without having to remove the cover. I have 6 different timing covers in my collection and believe that there may be others including Commando which should fit any of the Dommie engines.
I have 3 with different rev counter gearbox bosses. Plus 3 standard types with oval badge, round badge and no badge.
