I have a 57 engined 88 and the engine sprocket has 20 teeth and the gearbox has 22. Can anyone advise if this ratio is anywhere near the standard set up of 21 engine and 19 gearbox as in the Haynes manual.
Thanks for any advice in advance.
Roger.

Hmm. An 88 in my experience should have a 19T engine sprocket and a 19T gearbox sprocket. Your 20+22 arrangement would over-gear the bike considerably. !st gear too high, 4th more an overdrive.

Hello for a 500cc Model 88 your Sprocket setup should be 20 on the Engine and 19 on the Box your poor engine doing some hard work with a 22 on the Gear box
