I'm from Belgium, and whatever result i'll get i would like to thank you for reacting this fast,

The bike must have been imported into Belgium quite a while before 1989, cause the previous owner, the guy i bought it from drove it from '89 till 1993 and then stored it into a barn never expecting someone ever being interested buying it. Another thing is that i "met" the norton 850 Commando for the first time when i was eleven years old and i'm from '63 ?? is it destiny who will tell . hehe.

Dear richard can you tell me more precisely Dave's e-mail address, so i can add it to my gmail account.

Comparing the fairings-model it has been a genuine British Police-Force Motorcycle , what do you mean with first number ?

If the bike has been used (officially !) in Belgium up until 1993 then it should be on the DIV files.

In the UK, vehicles retain their registration number when sold, even if that number was first issued to a Police force. There is a possibility that the factory records held by the club for this period will include details of the first registration number and if so, the UK authorities will be able to provide a copy, enabling you to officially import the machine for the first time.

i wrote an e-mail to the British Police force Club asking if there could be an officer remembering his amazing machine but didn't get an answer yet,maybe my poor English did offended them ???

I checked out the link and indeed that's what i did ask to the local police, which are kind of colleques of me since i'm a community employee of the city!

but although a rendez-vous since last year October, they haven't passed by yet, i'll give them the address you gave me and then they'll know what to do

The problem is , that were the VIN plate on the head-stock must be on an Interpol there's the attachment/mechanical bolted Fairing-support which wouldn't hold for a 100 miles if it would be fixed on four VIN-plate rivets, but anyway a huge thank-You for the tip and have a beautyfull spring so you can ride that norton of yours

Till Now everything is possible , Although it was filled in onto the sales-agreement by the previous owner,that the bike was a British Police Force bike. What does the stamped " CM 797 " stands for ???!!!

got an e-mail from Marc today, advising me to go to the Belgium Customs for importing the bike, although it has already being imported ???

It is a struggle but the Norton is worth it!!!

I'll let you know how it evolves.
