Seat/mudguard fitting

Forums

on my ‘62 slimline featherbed the rear end of the seat locks into a dzu fastener in the rear mudguard......no problem.

Query....does this method stay the same on all the slimline models...until Commando ??

I have acquired a rear mudguard allegedly from a 650 ss and there is no dzu fastenening....have I been conned ?

thanks for you time in reading the above.

Its likely that the guard is from another AMC bike or possibly a repro from India. Some photos would help . the best check would be to compare with one from another member. join your local branch !  As far as I know the Dzus fitting was carried on to the end. If the guard fits well and looks close enough the Dzus fittings are availiable.

I agree with Robert - Even the Mercury 650 that came along after the 650SS and Atlas had the Dzus fastening.  That entailed modifying a Commando rear mudguard to include the fitting.  I'm not sure if the De-Luxe Dominators had the Dzus fastener.   Good luck, Howard

Hi Howard, The first Deluxes had a Terry type clip down seat , then went on to have the Dzus to give improved security.

Probably built in 1959 for the 60 year , not sure when they changed the seat fixing late 1960 early 61 ? Did not go on for long , MOT inspectors who noticed the insecure seat could fail it as a secure seat was a pass requirement. What were Norton thinking!!

sorry for very late reply....and thanks to all that responded

oddly ALL the other holes for reg plate, support arms, cable route frame fitting are all there and correct....so maybe a previous owner modified a donor guard.

anyhow simple to fit and then drill hole for dzu etc

thanks again
