Thanks Andy for putting me…
Thanks Andy for putting me on the right path - I have a set of BSC taps & dies and tried them first . Turns out the spindle I tried had some burred up threads and didn't want to accept the tap - tried the others tough and all is good . I am in the USA and my regular sources only had the slide hammer puller . I much prefer to draw with a threaded device when possible so I will make one up on the lathe - pics to follow if anyone is interested.
Cheers - Richard

The internal thread size is 5/16" x 26 tpi (5/16" Cycle thread).
It's best to warm the head - hot air gun will do - before attempting rocker spindle removal and when replacing.
One end of the inlet rocker cover stud is 5/16" x 26 tpi (Cycle thread). The other end of the stud is BSF 5/16" x 22tpi. So you could extract using this stud.
A slide hammer of the correct thread may also be used with care.
All afaik - what fun we have with thread sizes!
