manx engine on eBay

Forums

I bid 1,000 USD on this and was quickly outbid. Anyone here have an idea what it's worth?

So 4K American, more than my Yamaha race bike is worth, which is what I was going to sell to pay for it. I'll be interested to see what it actually goes for.

Do Manx and International engines come up for sale often in England? this is the first one I've seen over here.

Hi Allen there is an International engine on eBay here in UK that had a starting price of £4500.00.There has been 1 bid for that amount after 3 days but no other. They obviously feel it's worth that amount but it remains to be seen if anyone else does.

Could you send me a link? It sounds steep but I'm still curious.I looked at this today:http://www.ebay.com/itm/222635458599It's in a shop near my house. I decided to pass but the guy at the shop said they've had a lot of interest from overseas. I'd be willing to lend a hand to other club members would are interested in it, if needed.

A 'newish' later spec Manx DOHC engine is £12,000 plus. If you consider a later complete Manx selling at £22,000 then that is about £10,000 for the engine and £12,00 for the rolling chassis. A good DOHC cambox is £3,000. A pair of new crankcase halves are £2,000 ish. SOHC parts are more available and will cost less.

Just my thoughts

An SOHC cam engine would be totally fine with me.

The garden gate engine I mentioned above would have been fine, except that I'd end up with a bunch of stuff I don't want and it would be splitting up a matching-numbers engine and frame.

$7,500.00 is also pretty steep for what's there.

Looking at the photos there are some reasons to think that may not be an Inter frame. Be certain before bidding.

What are you seeing? just curious.

Can't see rearset lugs. Most of the distinguishing features on the frame are hidden or it's hard to tell by the angle. Giveaway is the frame number. Inter frames are unique and very different.

I'm with Michael on this. Tank mounts, Rear set lugs, brake plate all look a little questionable. Difficult to see from the pictures taken. But if you are visiting check the height and width of the engine mount top lug, the rear fender support (mounted behind the saddle tube) and the diameter of the headstock. Take more pics of those areas and I'm sure someone will shout out. The frame number usually is on the front tube top lug that supports the front tank mount (leftside).
