Happy gearchanging

Forums

My 59/60 box can be reluctant to select the next gear and can be stiff to change ,also it will not select Neutral at a stop. The clutch has been treated to new flat plates and lots of fettling so I'm thinking gearchange spring shape, shaft not free due to iffy bearing etc layshaft roller bearing conversion problem ? ,anything else?.

Goback to theclutch, didit all changewhen you installedit? YESstay focused on theclutch. If NO check outyourpositive stop mechanism springs. The heavy one has ahabit of delaminating and look like its working but isnt. The lightonejustgets overcome with congealedgrease, rust onpivotsorjustpoorconditionpawl system.

Not muchhelpbutseperate the clutchissuefirst....

I built the bike about 25 years ago from rusty bits,so no idea how it was before. Its never been a good change ,only bearable. I'm suspicious of the layshaft roller conversion I did back then and the bearing at the front of the box. The clutch has had plenty of attention and seems to free off well and spins true .I'm going in !. Wish me luck.
