Electronic ignition

Forums

I have a Commando 850 mkIII which I am restoring. I want to keep it original as possible but want electronic ignition. I have used boyer on the past but that was a long time ago now. Are the Boyer still good or is there better ones now that would fit in unseen?

With a mk3 to protect the starter you need a Boyer mk4 or a pazon, the boyer mk3 advances the timing at low voltages like when using a starter and the mk4 and pazon do not do this.

The Boyer Micro Digital and Boyer Micro Power (uses mini coils a for fatter sparks) are supposedly better units.:

Dyno Dave also talks about the Lucas Rita set up.

Finally a unit that looks extremely well made the fairly recently intoduced Wassel ignition unit: I have bought one of these for a Matchless twin...still to be renovated.

I fitted a Pazon system to my MKIII. I haven't fitted the electric start yet but have done over 500 miles since getting it back on the road in September. Mostly first kick starts, no kick-backs and superb running, especially pulling from low revs.
