Sandy, Dommie bits supply…
Sandy, Dommie bits supply isn't that bad, having restored a few slimlines. Only the original head lamp housing caused me to wait a few years but then there are alternatives that won't keep you off the road.
I have been trying to find a set of 57/58 pre/Fbed singles engine plates for over 5 years now with no luck. Got most the rest of the machine but I'm close to giving the lot to the skip... If only it was a featherbed!.

Hello I do believe you may Have seen Slimline Mudguard On Ebay Motorcycle part Norton Well the Offerings from India , I can say Be Warned That These Mudguards Have No Holes Drilled and No Bridge peace in the middle and NO Tags For the Wiring to the rear light, On My Norton Manxman the Rear Mudguard is a Original One And On the Underside There is a 2/12 Inch wide Bridge peace Welded in and it has tags for the wires for the rear light , So do Not buy a Chromed Mudguard is has it has no holes in ,you drilling the holes , the mudguard will rust around the drill holes you have made, and the bridge peace is there to stop the mudguard from cracking , so if there is NO bridge peace it will crack in time, so now you had your warning its up too you, yours anna j

There is a replica slimline rear mudguard in the NOC shop for £295. If it is anything like the replica one I got from the NOC shop for my wideline a few years ago, it will be excellent quality. The one I received had all the correct holes present, was braced along the sides and had the retaining clips for the wires. The only thing that differed from the original was that the captive nuts were metric thread.
Downside was the price. When you factor in chroming it made for a rather expensive rear end!

Right Martin, I bought one of these slimline rear mudguards from the club earlier this year. It is UK made and has the holes in the right place. It just needed a bit of light bashing in the bottom left corner, behind the gearbox. Still a quality bit of kit though.
I was told that it was not suitable for chroming, not a problem as this will be powder coated Arabian Grey (GR31) Replacement for Dove Grey. But it does have all the bits that Anna mentioned.
This brings me back to my point. There are plenty of bits made for Commando's, Featherbeds and lately even lightweight singles. Who is supporting pre Featherbeds?

The fact it needed 'bashing in bottom left corner' shows it is 'correct'. My 88SS (1963) only has a credit card thickness clearance here from the inset flat piece against the rear tyre and pretty much every other one I've seen has the flat inset portion cut off - usually the cut looks a bit ragged as if they used tin snips to fit them in the works. The inset is supposed to take the bottom left just inside the chain guard but there isn't really enough space( especially for the Atlas with its bigger tyres)

Hi Fred was at the Netley…
Hi
Fred was at the Netley Euro-jumble earlier this month.
I have sourced a number of slim-line mudguards from e-bay USA. They are not cheap but at least they are available. Search under 'Norton fender' and they do come up every few months. Look at them carefully though as a lot have been bobbed (shortened). There is one on at the moment that has been bobbed so no use.

Haha Anna - I hope you wer…
Haha Anna - I hope you were joking about Fred's age - I'll tell him when I next see him at Kempton Park! I reckon he's in his late 50s/early 60s - younger than me! We've been "bike show friends" for years and it was me who suggested to himhe made the Wideline petrol tank panel recesses to suit the modern [still available] round badges rather than the old ones, which were smaller diameter. He made the recesses larger to suit. He makes the front mudguards for several Nortons, including various wideline Dommies and singles but not the rear 2-piece or hinged typeasthey arefar too time-consuming. He does a good line in front 'guard stays and bridges too - generally undrilled. They are good enough to polish up for chroming, asare the front 'guards - I have one, a set of stays and a couple of bridges.
Peter retired from Renovation Sparesa fewyears ago and I don't know if the present owners have bothered with a Wideline rear since. I lent him my original 2- piece rear (1959 Dommie) several years ago and he had it for a couple of years to use as a pattern. I never saw any of those he made from it but the earlier efforts were a bit rough!
Fred is the biggest UK producer of Norton tinware that I know. He does silencer and brake light brackets, battery trays, dashboard panels and numerous other bits. He supplies at least one very well known Norton parts dealer with bits too.[I once saw him carrying several bits to their stand at Staffoprd a few years ago] I missed September's K-P jumble but might be at October's and/or December's if anyone wants me to ask him about anything?
Good luck, Lionel

Yes Anna, I got the rear mudguard from the club and it's as it should be & UK made.I was going to fit a wideline front to the 1960 Slimline until I decided that if I was going to spend a lot of money having them powder coated dove grey it would make more sense to have the right mudguard, hence Fred.
The W/line front will come in handy for the 57 pre F/bed Model 50, now a gentleman has some engine plates for me. Two more Nortons on the road next year, maybe?

Fred is a VERY busy chap and I don't think I've ever reached him on the phone in 10 years! I've always met him at shows & jumbles. Had to miss the October Kempton park one though but I'll have to try for the December meet as he'll be wanting my wife's mince pies! She actually minces the mixture ("mince-meat") but doesn't use mixed peel because she doesn't like it! Sadly I LOVE it, but she uses fresh lemon & orange juice as a substitute. Fred will eat it all!
Fred doesn't make rear Dommie mudguards, as I said before, but his fronts are pretty good except fora tighter radius. Good luck

Thanks Lionel,
Those mince pies sound GR8, just don't cover them with sugar...
Been 3 weeks now and I tried Fred last night. (I try every few days) He wasn't in again but about half an hour later he called me back. He said he'd give me a call on Sunday. Sounds good to me. The thing is that it will be expensive to powder coat in Dove Grey GR31 these mudguards so I may as well have the right one. I got the rear one from the club in bare metal, a very good one too.
Bit of a wide gap between the ears for the 99 headlamp, there must be a spacer in there each side. 7 inches between centres oftop yoke.

I think this topic has also been covered elsewherebut looking at this thread I thought I'd confirm that Fred supplied the front mudguard, bridge and spacers about a month ago. Thanks Fred.
Using a new WM2 stainless rim and an Avon 90/90 tyre there is not quite enough clearence at the bridge and with powder coating this will only get worse. This is a shame because a strong bridge acts as a fork brace.
Instead, what I intend is to replace Fred's bridge with a thinner gaugestainless bridge. Hopefully this will just about clear.

Well I have Been trying to tell the EC members about this problem for years now, and its only fell on Deaf hears, And if I had the cash that the NOC as in the bank , I would sort this problem out my self as No one in the NOC as the gumption to do anything about It , And if we all shout loud enough they just may hear us all yours ANNA J DIXON

You might just get away with a thinner bridge - I ended up fitting a 3.00 x 19 Speedmaster and putting the 90/90 Avon on a BSA - in many ways a more practical bike. Oh gosh, I can see the wrath of the Gods descending on me.

If the stainless (Thinner) bridge doesn't do it I might beat Anna into making a bridge that does do the job, with a decent front tyre.
The Avon 90/90 as a front tyre is a good asset on any bike Gordon.
The NOC spares dept do a GR8 job but in respect of engine plates for late pre Featherbed singles, after six years of trying, they have failed. Or maybe it is a case of deaf ears as Anna says. Two months to prove me wrong.

Thanks for the offer Anna, the stainless (Non original on a 99) bridge has done the job. I think this was made for a Commando. Anyway, another job sorted.

In restoring my '61 Model 50 I spent many hours reading all the Ebay listings in both the US and UK, you might get lucky. Other members have posted about the Indian made reproduction mudguards. Here is one ad that I found in the US Ebay listings. You will probably also find it in the UK listings:
