My 1957 Dominator came in pieces, it;s taken me 10 years to get it together.
However, there seems to be a problem, the tool tray doesn't fit.
The frame has three cross pieces under the seat, one for holding the tank down, and two others.
It is impossible to put the tool tray in place. See photo.
Pictures I have seen show only two cross pieces, one for the tank and one for rigidity.
Is my frame incorrect - (the number matches the engine number)?
It is also clear that the lug for the upper oil tank mounting is not there. Does it attach to the tool tray?
Anybody got any idea whats wrong?
This is a good one!!

Oil tank
Looks like you have a slimline oil tank which is different to the wideline type. There are three different wideline oil tanks. Yours should have the Ceandess twist cap.
The oil tank will bolt to the toolbox.
There are also two different toolboxes to complicate matters as well
The photo shows my 1954 wideline Model 88 being reassembled.

Froth Pots
The Slimlines framed Dominator started production in late 1959 but the Froth Pots (Vapour Towers) were not part of the deal until 1962. So none of the Wideline Frames used then (top mounting point is different) and neither did the first Slimline frames for about three years.

Yes the lug on the top of the oil tank shows the oil tank is from another time. Should have a frame lug? The two (RHS) lugs look correct and there will be the same on the (LHS) Silver gubbins (Dynamo Regulator) is of course 'poaching its spot' The middle cross member should fit to a 'cut out' in the tool tray, but the big central hole is another 'poacher'.
Further information needed??
This is not a Slim line oil tank as they have a Froth pot, (which would be recommended in this case) then the oil pipe to the rear could be refitted to the Froth pot and the tank to the breather pipe. This would mean having to fit the Slimline (leg of mutton) tool tray as well. (but the two rear holes fit)
