I`m rebuilding a 1951 plunger for my missus. (Out of the odd bits n pieces from my shed find - see earlier post).

I`ve got a strange question for you, it will earn lots of 'brownie points' if it is painted blue !!. Did Norton ever paint a bike blue, so at least I am not being completely out of order? - I`ll keep my head down!

Paul you beat me to it. Let's just hope our esteemed lady doesn't talk him into fitting a red seat too!

Odds on that evidence will emerge that there was a previously unknown Manxmaid model with a plunger frame and a tuned Model 7 motor producing 50 BHP.

:DWhen I buy another Norton, I say to my missus guess what colour it is...? She says not another silver bike..? :)Tell her silver is this years blue :)

Yes they did. Apart from the Manxman. My very first road bike was a blue and cream Jubilee deluxe. Norton also provided bikes to the RAC for hauling sidecars, and those would have been blue. I remember blue fire flake S Type Commandos too.

Hi all,

Blue was a colour on some export models and I'll be painting my ES2 in it because I want to be different. I have seen the remains of a rigid Model 77 (about 200 made and sent to Australia about 1950) that was done in this colour. It's Polychromatic blue I think but I stand to be corrected on that.

Hello This sound like a tall story To me, 50bhp out of a model 7 motor impossible. early engines objected to been over tuned ,

Any chance of a link to this `blue iconic norton` please

John I know its been a long Autumn / Winter but where have you been hibernating concerning acertain machine of a certain colour . Your good lady prefers the blends of greens and yellows that when mixed turns to that colour , the colour that us cowards don'tmention,it must be something in the genes as Anna J goes all sparkly eyed, it was also thepreferredcolour of a certain iron lady too, but I will leave that point there.

Just got my new membership card - with a jolly fine looking BLUE Norton on it. It does look smart. Maybe they don't all have to be black and silver after all! Not that mine was ever metalflake red with a nickel plated frame. No, of course not. That would be sacriledge.
