Bantam John - Mick Hemmings

I visited Bantam John's market stall when I was at the Stafford show last weekend as I was curious to see if he hada "Unity Equipe" section set up. As he hadn't I asked a staff member, the workshop manager as it turned out, what was intended. Anyway, noticing I had a Norton t-shirt on, he said "I've got some news that may please you (it didn't, but I didn't let on), we've bought all Mick Hemming's stock". Now I thought this had gone to the Germanbloke who's carried on trading the Andover Norton business. So has he just bought the leftovers then? I might be more than a touch cynical these days but I'm thinking that these spares, he said there was tons of them, are just going to be lost in some huge warehouse as, the guy, openly admits that Bantam John's telephone manner leaves him cringing and there's "NO CHANCE" of a website.

I also had reason to ring B.John about a part I required. On chatting I told him I was needing a piston for a 1923 James. He told me he may have one and to ring the next day. Anyway three days later I had a new old stock piston in hand. He was very helpful.

Bantam John bought Hemmings Triumph spares a while ago- Andover Norton bought the Norton spares.

I don't think the Triumph spares will be all that exciting for a Norton customer.

Form your own opinion and come to Andover Norton's Open Day this Saturday, 31st October.

Hi ,

Just placed an order with Bantam John, very helpfull and honest, he did say they were very busy and the parts i ordered would be a week or so before they arrived , and that was before he took my money, credit where due.

Hello,

I am very satisfied that the "german guy" bought Andover Norton a few years ago and now whether it is he who has the stock of Mike Hemmings parts.yes

Come on chaps, keep up and try to be respectful. That "German Guy" that several have refered to is the same nice Joe Seifert who has posted the invitation to the Andover Norton Open Day, a mere 3 postings above this note. If you go to the Andover Norton web site there is a full and detailed statement of the events regarding Mick Hemmings business and the Norton stock. HTH.

Keep up the good work JS.

No disrespect to the lads in Birmingham but... if we could have some German engineering sprinkled on our Nortons it would be all to the good.

The Dutch guy

Of course that iconic British black and gold motorcycle only exists because some other German guy came over and exercised his engineering talent. And you can trace the origin of these other popular parallel twins to some other German guys who did the same. Hats off to those German guys who have done, and continue to do so much for the British motorcycle industry.

That was what I thought, I did mention it in the original post. However, BJ'sworkshop manager told me otherwise so I was thinking they just got the leftovers you didn't want.

I think the fate of the spares has been settled and I am locking this conversation as some contributions, now deleted, let it it drift from its original theme.
