Another frame number query

Forums

Hello, I have this Featherbed frame but the frame number is incomplete and poorly stamped.

The frame as you can see has the welded on subframe with the small radius frame around the oil tank/ toolbox. If I'm not mistaken then the front engine mounts indicate that this is a twin engined frame so this should date it between 1954 - 1960.

The frame number year code looks very much like a 'P' so one would think this to be of 1959 manufacture , the model code - there is a faint '1' - the other numbers missing. The vertical numbers appears to be 70700 but am I right in thinking that this does not tie up with the 'P' ?

Could anyone point me in the direction here for UK registration purposes?

Cheers

P would indicate 1959 model season. Frame numbers for 1959 run from 80488 to 87037 according to the buyers guide but this isn't 100% accurate. My 99, 1960 model year, is 14 R 85787. The frame (a slimline) has 10 59 stamped on the head steady bracket. It was registered in December 1959.

Just had a look at the two headsteady brackets but can't see a number - which one is it and what side is it on?

I'd have to take the tank off to have a look. I know it's quick but it's a bit hectic just now. Just in from sorting out some new lambs - more on the way. When I get a moment...

Not to worry Gordon thank you but I found it - it's on the edge of the steering head bracket and yet again it's not too clear - looks like a 7 though!
