I'm trying to piece together the specifications of the ES2 I just bought and I'm wondering what the front brake is. Obviously not Norton but I haven't found any markings on it. Something Italian maybe?

I think you're right. I found pic of the Yamaha 4ls and it's virtually identical. I had no idea the Japanese ever made such a thing.

Yes, it was used on a range of their TZ racers. Quite a good brake apparently, to the extent that copies are made now. Flogging it would fund a proper Norton brake built into a new rim, I should think. Depends whether you prefer being able to stop, or originality!

I don't care about originality. I bought this bike specifically because it was already compromised. I can change whatever I want without ruining a piece of history.
