An Adventure In Zanzibar - recovering a '53 ES2

Forums

Happy to be a new member - and if anyone would like to browse down a bit on this Britbike thread below I wrote, there are lots of pics of a really epic 3 border "smuggle" of a 53 ES2 barn-find in Zanzibar that after a year, I have finally got back to my restoration workshop in Nairobi... she's 99% original ( tank archeology in stripping paint showed it was fitted with a 55-56 "badged" tank for some reason) and seems to have nad a bullet hole thru the tank from the 1964 violent revolution there when it was probably abandoned by a fleeing owner.

It was finally grounded by a magneto failure, after what must have been an amzingly long and adventurous life. The rear brake drum interior looks like a rutted and scored country lane, quite how I will restore that (possibly turning a cast iron sleeve and shrinking that in plus spot welds...I have not worked out.I'll be on here a lot looking for spares and advice but think have earned the right!
