99 Frame No. question

Forums

I have a non-matching numbers 99, the frame it turns out is from an Atlas. The frame number starts with 20. Is it correct that the frame number on a 99 starts with14?

Here in Canada, when we buy a used vehicle, we get, and pay for, a use-vehicle history report showing all previous owners and any liens etc. I have one from the frame bike and thought to ask for one from the bike that originally had the engine. I need to add the other two numbers to the engine number to get the frame number which the registration is based on.

thanks!

99 frames are stamped 14 then a year letter - R being 1960 for instance - then the frame number.

Best of luck with the authorities!

Thanks! T would be '62 then? The letters are sequential?

The cycle parts are a curious mix of the two bikes and I always wondered what happened to the 99 frame - it has the siamese exhaust from the '62 so the frame was... damaged?.. but not the exhaust? I'd love to find out.

Well there is No T it stopped that R 1960 but some export machines that were built in 1960 where not stamped with the R in the engine and frame numbers hope it helps yours Anna J

If you send details of your frame number to the Club Librariarn he should be able to date it and possibly supply more information. eg first owner.

I've done that and learned it was shipped to Berliner in North America. The factory records show who it was first shipped to, i.e. the dealer, not the owner.

That helps, yes. If I send the wrong frame number (and my money!), I'll get nothing and lose the money....
