Obtained solid state rectifier from NOC spares. No instructions. Printing on one side shows a + for one of the terminals. But where do the other three fit (one from h/l switch(-) and two from alternator.) Its positive earth. Advice please on 1, 2 and 3 below

I'm 100% with Phil on this one. All the potted bridge recs. I have ever seen have the positive and negative diagonally opposite each other (+,2) and the two AC connections on the other diagonal (1,3). The alternator connections can be either way round 1,3 or 3,1 - it doesn't matter..

On most of these little gems the negative terminal is generally immediately opposite the positive (+) one. So I would say that 2 is the negative with 1 & 3 being the alternator connections.
Check out the Al Oz diagram attachment. It is very old and the address completely changed.
