88 piston fitting

Forums

Hi all, just going to fit my pistons to the conrods but realise that they are not marked fwd on the pistons. They are marked left and right and im not sure which is forward. The valve cut outs look the same which ever way i position them. The only difference i can see is on the inside of the skirt there is a thicker section on one side.Could this be the forward side. Any sugestions would be gratfuly received. Thanks.

The thrust face of the piston is the rear face, so logic would suggest the thicker side of the skirt goes to the back. Yes, it can be a puzzle to fit them the right way round when the ex and in cutouts are the same. And would it really make a difference? I suspect not... Gordon.

Just make sure tha left and right one go in the correct bores, as you know and Anna reiterated.
