Maybe someone wanted an aluminium bar of those proportions? About the cams, call me a heathen but they look as clean to me as you'll get them with wet and dry, plus you don't want to go deep, so maybe assemble and try, while budgeting for a new camshaft and followers? I'm pretty sure I've seen cams like that, that went on to give adequate and long service ... If I *am* being a heathen, just ignore me! Smile

Have you split the crankcases to clean the cam or just cleaned it in situ? If you have cleaned it in situ with wet and dry, I would dismantle the crankcases and flush the lot out with petrol then re-assemble. The cam looks good enough for a low stress engine with a quality oil.
