Hi Dave... where are all the oil leaks? What is your secret? On the topic (sort of) the prewar bikes did not have that front bracket. I guess the Army added it for reliability, especially over rough ground perhaps?

I'm not thinking yet as a proper old bike owner obviously
I'll try to not ask the obvious in future.
I've fixed it now . Made up a clip as you suggested Dave. I admire what you have all done to your bikes.
I bought mine in March this year and I've pretty much just ridden it most of the time. I love riding it. Big smile every time. Its not a restored example like yours in fact it looks quite grubby but I'm happy!!

I just cut a couple of strips of stainless steel, wrapped it around the pipe and marked it where the bend needed to be. Drilled a hole and bolted it on. As my 16H is a WD model I lightly bead blasted them to give them a dull chrome look, the same as the originals. You could polish it for a chromed pipe.
