Camshaft / bush clearances

Hi all - I am looking for input regarding my cam bushes. 750 Combat - s/n 209xxx - plain cam journals - scrolled bushes .

Journals measure .873” - .8735” measured with dial caliper . Bushes measure .875” using Telescoping gauge and same caliper so clearance .002 “ overall. I can feel slight play when assembled dry.

I would like to avoid the complications of line reaming / honing etc if this amount of clearance is acceptable - street use only.

To make matters even more confusing it seems ANL is currently out of the scrolled bushes and they do not know when they will be available again . I have acquired some new old stock scrolled bushes but they are of the rolled variety , i.e. they have a split seam oriented axially.

I have read where some recommend top hat section bushes at least on timing side to replace the tabbed thrust washer - seems that this may run the risk of spinning and losing oil feed hole indexing ?

I have a lathe and can make the bushes easily enough except for the scrolling bit which may be beyond my ability.

Really lost in the woods here Gents - any help would be welcomed.

Hi Richard.

Did you get and response to your question? I am also putting together a 1972 combat motor and trying to establish the correct bushes and thrust washers to use. My camshaft is marked SS which I beleive is a 2S combat cam. It doesn't have scrolling on the camshaft so needs the scrolled bushes. I think the part number is 06.2600 and as you say they are out of stock at ANL. If I can source some then I think I need to use the shamfered thrust bearing (06.1086) and and the washer with a tab on it (06.2601). 

Any help would be appreciated.
