Side Stand

Forums

I have a 1972 model and I rarely use the side stand as it leans the bike over a lot and to me it looks to far. On investigation I don't have a normal set up, the fixing point on the frame on mine is missing.

The 3 pics attached show how my side stand is attached to the frame, 2 'U' bolts round the frame.

Has anybody seen this before as I would like to renew as this is worn hence why my bike leans so much over.

... a '72 would have the proper lug welded to the frame. I always liked the prop stand on my 850 although it was easy to catch the trouser turn-ups on it....

Anna is not talking about Commandos - you wouldn't want a prop stand on their engine plates.

Andover Norton sell the weld on bracket, Old Britts  website has a downloadable gauge you print and then cut out to give you the right angle for your welder. I did that recently to a 72 frame where the original bracket had been removed.

Hello now thanks, Ian I had forgotten It's one of them Jelly wobble frames So, therefore, needs a proper solid mont of fixing this side stand  too and a welded bracket with some strength to it, now have fun   yours  Anna J
