Navigator G/box oil capacity

Forums

Hi, could anyone please tell me the gearbox oil capacity for a Navigator please.

Hi David,

It all depends which gearbox is fitted to your navigator. Early gearbox up to 1964ish and later from 1964ish.

Early gearbox has an inspection/filler cap with two screws slightly off horizontal. Remove the gearbox cover fixing screw behind the kickstart. This is the level screw. Bike on centre stand. The gearbox is filled until oil comes out of the level screw hole. There should be a fibre sealing washer under the head of the level screw. About 1.75 pints.

Later gearbox has an inspection/filler cap with two screws slightly off vertical. The gearbox oil level plug is the screw below the inspection/filler cap so no need to touch the gearbox outer cover screws. Other details as above except the sealing washer behind the level screw is a copper washer. About 2.25 pints.

Is this the simple answer to your simple question?

Peter
