I'm still searching for a usable Commando in the Yorkshire/Northern area. Most seem to have US spec bars that will be a little too high for me. I know changing bars is easy enough but will the corresponding control cables need to be shortened? I know going high to low is easier than low to high for cable length - but am worried I could have excess brake pipe that may foul the steering.
Cables, hydraulic lines etc.....

Thanks Ian. I agree except perhaps for a Highrider - think they should stay in their 70's glory!
I'll check out the link.

swap the cables
Hi Mick,
my 1974 850 export model was supplied new with semi-western handle bars (06.1046).
I changed them for European handle bars (06.5748) without the need to swap the cables or brake hose.
I since swapped back to the semi-western handle bars, as they suit my riding style better now.
Hope this helps

... are readily available even if you don't make your own. I recommend Venhill who will make both to your specifications.

I wouldn't let the wrong bars put me off an otherwise suitable bike.
