Please, can anyone tell me what AMC forks I am trying to fit to a jubilee? See attached photos.
Steering head assembled and seems to work well with assistance from illustrated forks parts list.
How do I fit handlebars to this? Two slotted holes in two dished areas suggest rubber mount? Parts list talks about two U-bolts secured by two nuts, not four nuts? No illustration. The NOC shop lists a saddle for Jubilee bars? Can't see how that would fit.
I don't know if these are early Jubilee forks, late Jubilee forks, or from some other AMC lightweight.
Photos or advice very welcome.
Thanks, Peter
Jubilee handlebar mounts
Thank you Ian.
Handlebar mounting must be the same, even though fork tops slightly different headlight mounting on your F-B.
I'll make a suitable mount like yours, but with traditional 7/8 clamp. A universal mount I've seen on a well known auction site looks a good starting point.
Cheers, Peter

Hi Peter - the parts list…
Hi Peter - the parts list you've got "might" be for the post 64 model as that uses U bolt clamps etc (see photos) - pre 64 I think uses the one piece handlebar with moulded on lever arches & mounting - mountings are shaped to fit the dished area in top fork brace with a cupped washer underneath and large headed bolt

1961 jubilee forks
Thank you for the fixing details Bruce. Especially about the cupped washer underneath and bolt with large head. Last thing I want is my DIY handlebar mounting parting from the fork top.
Am thinking of braced trials bars which load things up much more than the Norton straights.
Dream on!!!

I would think...
... the pressed steel yoke would be rather weak to take trials type bars which as you say will exert more force on them.

The final fix
Thank you both, I would never have guessed the the bar mount on Francis Barnet and early Jubilee had two short pillars with egg shaped ends, to fit in the two dished holes in the fork top. I see now that the slotted holes in fork top would allow a limited rider adjustment for the bars, which were welded or brazed to the mounts. Thick cup washers needed as Bruce advised.
Purists look away. Photos attached.
The steel washers under the mounts, hard up against the fork top, are 3mm thick. Spacers under. 25 x 2.8mm spacer bar below with two holes 10mm on 3 inch centres keeps everything true. M10 nuts tightened with handlebar in the clamps to keep all aligned. Fingers crossed.

I agree with Al...
... metric fasteners on a British bike are one of my pet hates. No excuse these days as Cycle, BSW and BSF are all readily available. Having said that the basic layout looks good.

They look identical to the forks on the Francis Barnett I misguidedly restored a few years ago. I attach some photos which may help. The dishes take the (integral) handlebar clips which allow limited fore and aft movement. As far as I know these forks are identical to the Jubilee - but thankfully not the Electra as they're pretty pathetic. Whatever you do don't have them grit blasted as I spent hours & days trying to clean them out.
