Does anyone know whether it is possible to get the stepped retaining nut for the Lucas 30552 ignition switch fitted to the 850 Mk3 as a separate item?
Thank you Robert. I did find…
Thank you Robert.
I did find the pre-Mk3 style chrome top nut and hex brass nut on eBay.
Asked about the Mk3 'stepped' nuts and one seller replied. It's something they're thinking about but not available at present.
The thread appears to be 32 tpi or 0.8mm pitch with an outside diameter of 0.775" or 19.5mm. Not one I can match up against any known pipe or conduit threads. But my lathe will cut 32 tpi so maybe I can make something.

Bear in mind this is the 'far-eastern' re-manufacture of the original Lucas item.
But I wonder if anyone has a failed switch with a spare good nut?
Then if some one has the tap then they could make one (or perhaps a few spares?)
But if the nut has a 'dodgy' thread then the chances are the switch itself has a worn thread.
Best of luck. We will no doubt hear more in due course.
