Huddersfield to Matlock Bath - Sunday June 6th

Our next planned Yorkshire branch ride out is on Sunday 6th June, the destination is Matlock Bath, in my opinion its one of the best ride outs we arrange (unless the rain god intervenes!), so please do your best to get your Norton out and join us, if the Norton's not available still join us on any other make of bike, just make sure it can maintain a decent pace as we like to make good progress on the lovely roads that West Yorkshire / Derbyshire presents us with.

We will meet at 10am for a 10.30am prompt departure from the Three Nuns public house in the Mirfield area, this pub is situated on Leeds Road (A62) where the A644 joins the A62, this location is approximately 1.5 miles away from the M62 junction 25.

I plan to stop at the bridge over the Ladybower reservoir on route (that's on the A57 just before the traffic lights that have a turn going down to Bamford), we should be there at 11.30ish so that members from the South Yorkshire / Derbyshire (or anywhere else) area

can join us.

As long as the weather is half decent on the day we will be going ahead with the ride out, the forecast at the moment is very good.

I would have been there, but I have family committments this weekend. I will be in the tin box in South Wales. Matlock Bath is a great place to ride to and I hope someone will do a write up and let everyone know how it went. Have a good trip.

That rain god intervened after all! Our man living close to Ladybower confirmed what the met office web site was stating, heavy rain in the area, in fact our man's description was of a thunderstorm and stair rods followed by 'did Norton ever make a boat'! So did that put us off, er well yes actually, but we didn't cancel. Six of the branch members turned up at the rendezvous during a period of constant light rain, we all agreed that we shouldn't head for the really bad weather, having consulted the met office web site the north west of England was less wet so we had a ride out to Rivington Barn instead which is close toLancashires west coast. We had light rain all the way there and it was dry all the way back. In all we covered approx 125 miles. The Matlock Bath run will be rescheduled for later in the year.
