Lucas RB.107 control box

Forums

Hi All!

I am trying to locate a Lucas voltage regulator (control box) for my '57 model 77. Condition is not important, other than I will need the base & the cover. I see one has been listed & re-listed on eBay but it's missing its aluminum cover.

Thanksin advance,

Hi Eugene. You might consider this:

Ok it is a replacement for the MCR2 box but as you can see the two boxes are identical inside but have the connection terminals in a different order for just a few quid, it seems this would be worthwhile. As far as I know these are made in India and are still the mechanical solenoid type but best to check. Can't see what else is different between the two. Not a big gamble IMHO.

Thanks Les,

But I am going for looks on this one, I have a great electronic box from Hawker :

http://www.hawkerelectrical.co.uk/items/3-1_22-hawker-dynamo-regulator-dyno-tec.htm

but want to hide it in the original box. I had a mcr2 but the mounting hole centers are different than the rb.107 & the mcr2 has a brass cover painted black & the rb.107 has a aluminum cover. Both boxes use a different method to hold the cover on as well (mcr2 uses a steel wire bail). Ideally I would like a non working unit that has acosmeticallygood cover, but I can repair a cover thats dented or scratched.

Hi Skip. Thanks for pointing out the differences. You should be able to find one relatively easy, if its just the box you are after. I'll ask some friends what they have.

Good news! After months of searching, I found a RB 107 box on ebay this morning:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LUCAS-NOS-RB107-37191-voltage-regulator-GENUINE-/230620110681?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35b2079f59#ht_500wt_922

It set me back£34.99 for a buy it now , plus£10 to ship from the UK to the USA.

Probably a bit steep for something no one will ever see,

but how often do you see a new old stock 1950's Lucas item for sale at all?

Its a mental defect called Nortonitis !

Thanks to all for looking for one for me !
