Braided rocker oil feed lines

Forums

Hi all - can any of you advise where (in the UK) I can source a braided oil line kit for my Commando rocker feeds? - I'm sure I've seen them listed somewhere but I cannot find any details now.

Cheers

Hi Mark

Andover Norton (www.andover-norton.co.uk) sell a good braided oil feedhose, part No.06-5561ss. I fitted one to my 850 it looks good and works fine. When I fitted mine I turned the the long hose round so it took a clearer route to the right handside of the head.

Hello Mark

Les Emery (Norvil) supplies the kit complete with the banjos etc and stainless fasteners for the ends.

I bought mine from Mick Hemmings, excellent quality and a good price.

60 quid plus vat sounds steep for something that doesn't need to be particularly elaborate. The problem with braided hoses is they tend to saw through things that they rub against and there are plenty of bits to rub against and saw through on a Commando. The braided aspect is for protection of the inner plastic tube. That's the bit that does the business. Brake pipes have to handle pretty high pressures but your rocker feed is only running at oil system pressure. (and that's probably not much) Unless you only want it for pose factor, save your money or better still, spend it on beer. If you salvage your old banjos you can re-pipe them with nylon tubing from your local hydraulic supplier for pennies. ( you can probably get different colours as well if you ask)

Have to say Dale makes sense to me. I've been mulling the braided hose question for some time and yes it is a lot of loot for looks. I had a hose break once ,you dont have to worry about not knowing about the problem. oil is everywhere and in my case a soaked boot and pant leg. happened right after the 1500 mile new bike check up. i always felt the dealer or someone at the shopsabotaged it. never know the answer to that one... perhaps that is another reason to have the braided, prevents mischief tampering.

Hi all - following your helpful replies I sourced a kit from Mick Hemmings - it's actually a Venhill product - Mick sells it cheaper than Venhill themselves. The product is good however I found I had to adjust the end-banjos to avoid kinks in the line when fitted.

Thanks for your help and comments.
