Do you have the original type switch? The geometry is a bit different on slimline and wideline frames. But the switch is supported on a bent sheet steel bracket. It should be possible to make a new one to mount the switch a little further forward.

I do have an original brake switch
But because of the specific original colour I tend to go the way of modifying the brake rod with a small adjusting bolt, in stead of modifying the switch mounting bracket.

The exhaust temperature has…
The exhaust temperature has no value on its own, the best measurement would the exhaust gas analysis. Once this is know to be good then take a measurement of the exhaust temperature, but at anytime you change the exhaust pipe then repeat the above as the exhaust may heat up differently.

Because I'm quite tall for a featherbed, I'd like to mount the footrests a bit lower. However, that would require lowering the brake pedal, and then there's too much space between the pedal and the brake switch. Has anyone solved this?
