I have a 1974 850 interstate (although i think it was originally a JPN) and I am looking for someone near Leominster or Bromyard to set up the ignition timing and carbs.
does anyone know of anyone who can help?

You'll need a strobe to set…
You'll need a strobe to set the ignition timing whether it's points or electronic. You cant rely on the timing plate in the primary chaincase for accuracy. I removed mine and marked the stator with T.D.C and 31 deg. B.T.D.C for the Boyer ignition at 5,000 rpm. If the carbs are the old Amal Concentrics with some miles on them you'll never get a reliable idle speed due to wear between the slides and bores. Amal premiers are the way to go. To accurately balance the slides you'll need a vacuum gauge. I'm 35 miles away and can do the work.
Simon.

Worcestershire Branch meet at Malvern. See the magazine for details. I'm sure someone there could help. I'm in Kidderminster, a bit further away.
