RMGM Gear Pinions.
I fitted their Close Ratio 1st and 2nd pinions in my 650SS box about 20 years ago. Needed a bit of fettling to fit my shafts, otherwise, no problems.

I was browsing around…
I was browsing around Andover Norton's website (as you do on cold, dark evenings) and came across a story on the Seifert family's race bike: https://andover-norton.co.uk/en/our-bikes/detail/286
Here there is mention of a 4-speed close ratio cluster which is stated to suffer from "gears splitting in half" due, it is conjectured, from an inappropriate hardening process. No manufacture is identified but it is stated to be of english origin - and it's not Quaife.
Does anyone know whether Joe's talking about RGM? (Please PM me if you don't want to go on record.)
Or is/was there another close ratio 4-speed?
Has anyone had direct experience of, or know of, RGM gears breaking up?

I have a set of RGM close ratio gears in my 750 Commando. Fit & finish seems good, & they have survived 3,000 miles so far without problem.
