Wheel rims and tyres

Forums

For the rebuild of my '71 Roadster I've decided on 90/90 front and 100/90 rear tyres, both on 19" wheels. Tyres will be Avon Roadriders.

But I can't make my mind up on the front wheel width- WM2 or WM3?

I was leaning towards WM3 as it would allow a 100/90 in the future if needed, but I've read the WM2 might be a better option. Then Avon recommend the WM3 for the 90/90...........

The rear will be a WM3.

Any advice greatly appreciated- it's giving me a headache!

Thanks very much

Robin

PS- Sorry if this has been done to death already.....

I have the 90/90 WM2 and 100/90 WM3 Roadrider set-up on Akronts. The 90/90 seems to sit OK on the WM2 but Avon do indeed recommend a WM3.

The tyre looks a little lost under the wide mudguard intended for the 4.10. Which guard are you using ?

Looks apart, this is the best handling tyre and rim combination that I've ever had.

Dear Robin,

A suitable combination is WM2 Front and WM3 Rear with 90/90 Front and 100/90 Rear. You won't believe how much the handling is improved. For suitable tyre pressures try 32 Front and 36 Rear.

Best wishes, Colin Cheney, Leicestershire.

Thanks Richard & Colin, that's really helpful

Looks like I'll be going with the WM2 front- the mudguard isn't an issue as I won't be using the standard one, plus I like the look of the smaller front rim anyway.

All the best, Robin
