Wheel offset

Forums

Hello All,

I re trued the front wheel today .. what a fab job. So pleased was I with the almost faultless rotation, until that is I put it on the bike. Now the wheel rim was sitting 1/8 inch nearer the l/h fork leg. I have Akront wm2 rim and Mk2a Disc hub, does anyone else have this set up? If so could you please tell me what the correct measurement is from a straight edge accross hub to the rim edge.

Many Thanks

Gary

Ps this is what it is looking like now the bike not the wheel!

Hi Gary,

Just 'trawling' on the messages section, saw your post - I have a Mark 3 Interstate which is fitted with a WM2 Akront front wheel. I rebuilt my wheels not so long ago. The offset for the front wheel is 0.5" +/- 0.02" (ie 20 thou) - measured from the disc mounting face, ie the flange on the hub to the rim. This is the measurement for the standard Dunlop WM2 rim which I used on my Akront with no problems. Hope this helps. Ken Weeks

PS this measurement is believed to be the same for the earlier models. Regards Ken.

Thanks Ken,

I have now done the job and all seems fine. Sorry for late reply, I have been spending all spare time in the shed.

All best

Gary

PS do you have measurement for drum braked rear by any chance?

Hi Gary,

Have a look at the Commando technical pages under "wheels" and then sub section "offset" the final entry has the facts. It's all here on this website

Yours
