Timing cover tacho gearbox fixings

Forums

Having just purchased a timing cover with tacho gearbox fixing arrangement for my 600 Dominator, I have found that the two holes for bolting the gearbox to the cover are not tapped, on the inside of the cover there are two recesses that look like they are there to locate a nut. My question is how do the tacho gearboxes bolt to the timing cover and could someone advise the thread and size of the two bolts/setscrews.

Many thanks

Hi Tony

Some timing side covers were not tapped but you will find a 2BA screw fits ok

I would use socket screws and nyloc nuts, put them on the inside of the cover.

If you use normal nuts make sure you apply some Loctite thread lock because if one of the nuts falls off it will make a mess!!!

Hope that helps and if your struggling to get the screws let me know via the forum and I will post you some.

Best regards
