many thanks Ian

My problem is how to keep it on, as mine has gone AWOL! I appears that it wasglued on, but not permanently. If that is how they were originally attached, then gentle prising should ease it off.

Cheers Ian

I need to get the old badge off of my Dommie timing cover too. "Gentle prising" doesn't work as there's nowhere to get a purchase on it. I don't want to damage the timing cover obviously. I'm going to try drilling a small hole (or large one?)in the middle (it'senamelled brass, BTW) so I can get something to hoik it out with! This will need the bench drill so I don't go too deep. I'm hoping I'll find a small void behind it or an edge to get grips with.

Good luck!

Hi Lionel

That was a good plan, I drilled a hole (1/4) and there is a void, using a screw-driver as a lever it came out easy , it was held in with some thing like chewing gum I will use silicone to put it back, one job less !!.

many thanks Ian

Thanks Ian, I had a half-hearted attempt at it with a hand drill and a 1/4" bit and just made a 'shallow 'countersink' - didn't find a void at that depth so I willtry it the safer way with the bench drill! The won't be until the Summer though, when I'll probably retire from work. Then I can clean out my shed!

Cheers, Lionel

many thanks Ian hello you do not need to do any drilling or bashing all you need to do is put the cover in the oven and turn it full on for 20 mins and have two blocks 2x2 about 6inchs long then when you get the cover out of the oven wearing leather welding gloves and tap the cover between the blocks and it shoud drop out ?? your Anna J Dixon
