Can anyone tell me what length the swinging arm bush spacer should be for a (wideline) featherbed frame please?
The reasonI ask is the oneI have appears to have been modified but I want to check before replacing it. I suppose that the length of two bushes (measured over the inner tubes) plus the length of the spacer ought to equal a snug fit between the gusset plates - but if someone was able to measure one that would confirm this.
Thanks

Colin this might also help…
Colin this might also help by default!.
I'm in process of a total rebuild on a SLIMLINE model.
Width of bush+spacer+bush is 8 7/16. Bush is 3 1/8. Spacer is 2 3/16.
Swingarm width is 8 1/8, so the proud end of the bush sticks out each side of the arm. The actual spacer is fairly crude, a couple of thick penny type washers jammed on a tube! and this is original factory fitting as I'v had the bike since almost new.
Final detail, bushes are marked OLAYFLEX Bearing BP823 6A, again being the original.
Hope you get sorted. Regards JMB

Neil/John - Thanks very much; that confirms what I suspected; mine has been shortened for some reason.
I also now realise that the only reason it has the 'washers' fitted is to locate the spacer radially in the s/arm to stop it dropping when the spindle is not fitted. Therefore it is just a 2 3/16" long piece of 3/4" o/d 1/2" i/d steel tube. The 'washers' are 3/32" thick and 1.160" diameter.
I will now make a new one - certainly not paying £12.90 plus VAT!

Hi Colin, sorry this has taken so long. I knew I had one somewhere, seized on a spindle and soaking in old oil. Anyway, I found it but then the battery was flat in my vernia and without strong glasses, I couldn't read the marks.
Anyway, all fixed now.... The total length is 55.75mm and the length to the outside ofboth fixed spacers (For want of better words) is 50.80mm. Looking at the spacer you will knowjust what I mean.
Hope this helps,
Neil.
