Spacers for rear dampers

Forums

I have just bought new rubbers and bolts for my Girling dampers, the old ones having turned to sticky black jelly.

Puzzle - the top frame mount is much wider than bottom swing arm mount - what fills the gap? I have vague memories of some steel bobbins.

And why not make the damper unit a tight fit in the frame as well as the swingarm like some inferior makes?

Yes they are on the Slimline. Some new shockers are wider at the top. However, they have been a bit too wide and needed to be ground down. I think the Hagons I bought for my Slimline Model 50 came with white plastic spacers. Just make sure you put the spacer in the correct side.
