I have just had my slimline tank blasted prior to stove enamelling. I was surprised to find four slightly dished blind screw holes in the top, about the same thread as the side flashes. They had been skimmed over with filler by the previous owner.
Was this from a police model? Optional extra map holder? Anybody know?

all that I can tell you for sure is that I have a similar tank, and that I thought the inserts were for a Triumph type parcel grid, but no Triumph one fits the hole centres I have, I shall have to make one that does. Most of the ex-police bikes I have seen had a sort of tray set into the tank top for the R/T set, and the filler cap moved.
anybody else know?
