Slimline swinging arm

Forums

Should the nuts on the swinging arm spindle(silent bloc rubberbearing type) be tightended up with just the weight of the bike on the suspension or should they be tightended up with the bike on the suspension plus a rider ??

What should the torque setting be.

Many Thanks Ian B

Hi Ian,

The swinging arm spindle should be tightened at the mid point between extension and compression of the rear suspension units so that the silentbloc bushes have equal tension either side of the mid point. In practice get an assistant to pre-load the rear suspension while you tighten the spindle nuts. I do not know the torque settings but maybe someone can enlighten both of us,

Regards, Rob.
