Slimline petrol tank leak

Forums

Hello,i am in the process of restoring a dominator i've owned since late 70's but has been garaged for around 15 years.never had problem with the tank leaking before so stupidly had tank resprayed without throughly checking it out other than cleaning crud from inside.

whilst looking to put the long tank badges on i've found that the front right side nutsert has a hole in it going through to tank. my question is does anyone know of a way of fixing it without ruining the paintwork.

thanks.

Thankcareproducts or CaswellEurope sell epoxy sealer which is good for preventing corrosion from ethanol petrol as well as sealing leaks.

They have corrosive chemicals for removing the rust internally first, needs care when draining them to avoid damaging the finish. You will need to block the hole with Araldite from outside first. Hope it was sprayed with 2-pack paint, as ethanol attacks cellulose etc.
