hello the springs fit on the inside of roadholder shorts and If I were building a Special I can name better Engines to fit than a Triumph twin . and one of the would be a Norton Twin . above 650. the other engine I would go for is a Kawasaki ZXR750. bulletproof engine. .I 've also seen a Warton" yes and wartburg engine fitted in the featherbed fame. and it was well engineered and had some power of 100bhp. as wartburg engine have been tuned to 180 bhp with not much trouble these engine are usually fitted to wartburg rally cars they had countless wins in there own 1000cc class .I have raced a wartburg engine in a sidecar with some club wins . the wartburg motor is very strong and versatile to tune. in Germany they race then in light weight racing cars similar to F1 racing You can see Racing wartburgs On You Tube Fun to see. yours Anna J

Hi Stephen, I've never built a Triton but do have some experience of short Roadholders. I must admit I'm struggling a bit with your description, are you talking about the fork shrouds that attach and hang down from the bottom yoke? If so, they do indeed use three screws a piece but I don't know the thread. As Anna says, the fork springs are internal on short Roadholders but being a special is there a chance you might have something different on there? Any chance of a pic?

The screws are 2BA countersunk head and a large washer with 3 corresponding countersunk holes to allow the springs to sit flush.

A leather washer on top of the spring will help things.
