Searching for a lesser spotted Dominator Centre Stand

Forums

Greetings from the Shed

I am searching for a mythical creature, something of an unexpected rarity round these parts. Something I would not have thought to be an issue..... but what do I know!

A 1966 Dominator Centre Stand - see picture for details. Picture credit to the NOC Shop.

All the major suppliers have these as out of stock. Andover just say they don't stock them. NOC and RGM similarly have them marked as not available. Yes a few pop up on Fleabay but they are all in rubbish order and are no better than my current stand. For context the current stand has lost it's side 'tab' which allows an easy engagement. At present I have to go fishing about with the toe of my boot on the hot exhaust to get the thing down. Not ideal. The stand itself is barely holding the bike upright as the legs are so worn out. It was down as a winter project to replace this item but I've hit the parts equivalent of the Bermuda Triangle.

Does anyone have any tips or hints as to where I might find one of these scarce items??

Thanks and Happy Twixmas

Have your old stand repaired. pivot holes bushed and feet either built up with weld and ground back or a plate welded on. Same time get a new tang welded on.

Just fitted new feet to my 1960 stand ,its the second set after the first replacements cut from old ford brake pads wore out . Now made from 6mm  x50 mm steel  bought off E bay , Cut into suitable length with 4" angle grinder. Welded on by son using ancient welding machine and rods from Halfords .Bit of body filler to tidy up . Simples!.

Thanks both. I was afraid that was going to be the answer. I might fit a side stand and put up with it for a bit longer whilst finding someone to do the work. Happy Days!
